Abuse Policy

How we receive, investigate and act on abuse reports.

Applies to: Anyone reporting content or activity on our network.

Draft, pending professional review

This document is a working draft prepared for review by a qualified legal adviser. It is not legal advice, and it is not the final agreement. Highlighted passages mark positions that must be settled before publication.

1. How to report

Use the abuse report form or write to our abuse address. Include the exact URL or IP address, what you observed, and when. Reports without enough detail to locate the content cannot be investigated.

2. Our process

Every report is logged with a reference and follows the same process:

  • Acknowledgement, with a reference.
  • Verification that the content is on our network and matches the report.
  • Notice to the customer with a deadline to act, where the situation allows it.
  • Suspension where the breach is confirmed and unresolved, or immediately where waiting would cause harm.
  • An outcome notification to you, within the limits of what we may disclose about another customer.

3. Priority categories

Child sexual abuse material, imminent threats to life and active phishing campaigns are handled immediately and referred to the appropriate authorities. Please also report these directly to law enforcement.

5. What a complaint must contain

Whichever procedure applies, a complaint must identify the work, identify the infringing location precisely enough for us to find it, state your authority to act, and be made in good faith. Deliberately false claims carry consequences, including liability for damages under section 512(f) of the DMCA.

Counter-notices from the customer are considered before content is restored, where the applicable procedure provides for them.

7. Reporter privacy

We do not disclose your identity to the reported customer except where legally required, and we will tell you if that becomes necessary. Note that some procedures — the DMCA counter-notice process in particular — require your notice to be passed on in full, which will identify you.
